The Academic Society consciously supports research across the full breadth of academic endeavour. This commitment to the plurality of disciplines has been reflected in the society’s organisation and the composition of its Board of Trustees from its earliest beginnings. In accordance with its charter, all the university faculties participate in electing one half of its members from the ranks of the professors. The other half of the board is composed of distinguished individuals from business and society.
Dedicated to Research
As the history of the Academic Society shows, nurturing research has been at the heart of its work from the outset. In recent years, the Academic Society has made special efforts to support up-and-coming scholars. Funding travel to international conferences has, for example, become a major priority area. The two research prizes awarded by the academy also seek to foster the career prospects of emerging researchers.
